Lady Justice Joyce Aluoch

Lady Justice Joyce Aluoch, EBS, CBS, is a former Judge and First Vice-President of the International Criminal Court at The Hague, The Netherlands. She was the second woman Court of Appeal and High Court Judge, as well as Magistrate in Kenya.

Upon retirement from the bench in 2018, she successfully moved her legal profession to ADR, particularly mediation and arbitration. She co-founded Aequitas Mediators, and conducts mediations under the Court Annexed Mediation Program, FIDA-Kenya, international and domestic mediations and virtual mediations.

She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators London and the Kenya branch, International Council for Commercial Arbitration, Africa Arbitration Association and Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration.

She was recently appointed a member of the International Advisory Board of the office of Ombudsman for the United Nations Funds and Programs, Chair of the Advisory Board of the Africa-Asia Mediation Association (AAMA), Board member, Mediators Beyond Borders International (MBBI) and Adjunct Professor, Faculty of Law, University of the Western Cape, South Africa.

She is a recipient of several international and national awards including Presidential Awards of Elders of the Burning Spear (EBS), First Class Order of the Burning Spear (CBS) and Trail Blazer Award (CBS).
