Publication of a Directory of African International Arbitrators to Address Diversity in International Arbitration 7 December 2020 It is axiomatic that the number of African arbitrators appointed in international arbirations is disproportionately small compared to the total number of Africa-related international arbitrations. The AfAA is pleased to announce an initiative aimed at increasing diversity in the appointment of arbitrators in international arbitration. Conscious of the need to dispel the perceived inadequacy or lack of a pool of African international arbitrators, the AfAA will be publishing an online Directory of African International Arbitrators (DAIA) in an effort to make African arbitrators more visible and accessible to the international arbitration community and to users of international arbitration. The AfAA aims to publish
the DAIA online by January 2021. The DAIA will be a platform for African arbitrators with international arbitration experience and/or qualification. The DAIA is open to all international arbitrators with African nationality. Qualified individuals may submit their profiles here. |
