Lady Justice Shaheda Peeroo

Shaheda Peeroo is a member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple. She is a former Judge of the Supreme Court of Mauritius where she served for 20 years.  She retired in 2016 as the most senior of the “Designated Judges” specialised for international arbitration matters, after having delivered judgments in a number of landmark cases, including Cruz City v Unitech Limited [Yearbook Com. Arb. 2014 (Vol 39) 447; 2014 MR 46] and UBS v MCB [2016 SCJ 43]. The Cruz City judgment was nominated by the Global Arbitration Review (GAR) for an award as "the most important published decision of 2014 for jurisprudential or other reasons". She is a member of the Administrative Tribunal of the African Union, consultant and arbitrator at Peeroo Chambers in Mauritius, and a member of the MARC Court. She has been a member of the Administrative Tribunal of the African Union from 2012 to 2020. She is consultant and arbitrator at Peeroo Chambers in Mauritius, and a member of the MARC Court.
