OLUFUNMILAYO ROBERTS: COVID-19 ADR INITIATIVE (CADRI)

25 May 2020

Funmi Roberts, one of the visioners of the COVID-19 ADR Initiative ("CADRI") invites you to join her and her team in working together to mitigate the adverse effect of COVID-19.   The CADRI was envisioned to ensure that disputes, even those that are suffering COVID-19 imposed delays in courts, are resolved in a timely, considerably cheaper and efficient manner, notwithstanding the existence or otherwise of dispute resolution clauses in the contracts executed between the parties.

When that audacious and undiscerning pandemic, COVID-19 made its debut into the world, no one envisaged the devastating effect it would have on our personal, political and socio-economic lives. With businesses having to rationalise and optimise the values in their diminished resources, it has become imperative to minimise, if not obliterate, waste of any kind. Time, money and human resources must be aligned to meet the imperatives of the business sustainability plans of companies that are still standing. Directors, management and in-house counsel are under pressure. Yet many of them have to deal with unintended and unforeseen disputes that the emergence of this pandemic has wrought.  You can help alleviate this problem by either by signing the CADRI Pledge and/or joining the CADRI Panel of Neutrals as an ADR expert.
