The Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) is an independent, non-profit international organisation established in 1979 under the auspices of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO). One of the Afro-Asian region’s oldest and leading arbitral institutions, CRCICA advances arbitration and alternative dispute resolution across Africa, the Arab region and beyond. Under the 1987 Headquarters Agreement, it was accorded international-organisation status and the privileges and immunities necessary for its independent functioning. For more than four decades, CRCICA has provided reliable, efficient and impartial dispute-resolution services to parties from diverse legal, cultural and economic backgrounds. The Centre administers international, regional and domestic arbitrations, as well as mediations, dispute boards, expert determinations and other alternative dispute-resolution proceedings. Since its establishment, CRCICA has administered more than 1,889 arbitration cases in Arabic, English and French, reflecting the sustained confidence placed in the Centre by businesses, governments, legal practitioners and users worldwide.

CRCICA combines a multilingual case-management team with an international network of arbitrators, mediators, adjudicators and experts. Its 2024 Arbitration Rules provide for electronic filing, remote hearings, expedited and emergency arbitration, consolidation, early dismissal, multiple contracts and third-party funding, while its online cost calculator enables users to estimate arbitration costs transparently and efficiently. In 2026, CRCICA adopted Opus 2 Arbitral Institutions platform for secure digital case management, enhancing efficiency, consistency and transparency.

CRCICA is deeply committed to developing arbitration and ADR practice, through conferences, professional training programmes, specialized initiatives, publications and institutional partnerships.

Located in the heart of Cairo, CRCICA also offers state-of-the-art hearing and conference facilities, including modern hearing rooms, breakout spaces and an auditorium equipped to host in-person, hybrid and virtual proceedings and events.

Prominent Awards and Recognition:

• Recognised by the African Development Bank in 2022 as one of Africa’s leading arbitration centres and recommended for parties from Africa and elsewhere.
• Recipient of GAR’s Regional Institution of the Year Award in 2013 and 2019. Recognised in 2020 for outstanding response to Covid19. Remaining on the White List 2014-todate.
• Named African Institution of the Year and Diversity Champion at the 2020 and 2025 AfAA Awards.
• Designated as the accredited arbitration centre for the Confederation of African Football in 2020.
